Level 4: Grade 8

This is the senior cohort of Level 4, where students focus on developing essential skills through exposure to STEM concepts and opportunities as they prepare for high school. Building on the foundations learned in Level 3, this stage enhances leadership and STEM abilities. Each spring, students will participate in a University Readiness program, gaining a complete university experience. They will attend STEM-based classes taught by university educators, explore campuses, live in residence, and engage in hands-on learning. Additionally, students will have opportunities to network with peers and professionals, forming long-lasting friendships and valuable connections. This program prepares students for future academic success and leadership in STEM fields.

Global STEM Leadership Program - Student Perspective

STEM Leadership Programs

The Leadership Development program is available to children ages 8-18. The program will provide children and youth with immersive STEM-based experiential learning. Students will have the opportunity to facilitate and engage in community projects, ultimately pioneering change within the community and the development of future leaders for change. Future leaders will be exposed to unique global STEM opportunities and programs directed towards the pursuit of post-secondary education and enhanced career aspirations.

Level 4 Program Overview: Starting November 23, 2024, in-person sessions will be held on the 1st Saturday of each month, either at 10:00 am or 11:00 am, lasting 2 hours. Students can attend unlimited weekly STEM sessions after school and on weekends (1 hour each). Weekend activities include mentorship, industry interactions, and leadership development (2 hours). The registration deadline is November 30, 2024, with a full schedule provided after successful registration.

All students will receive mentorship throughout the program, gaining valuable advice and connections to support their success. Upper cohort students can further enhance their leadership and interpersonal skills by mentoring junior students. These opportunities include collaborating with key industry professionals who share a passion for STEM careers and learning, providing a platform for growth and development within the STEM field. Students will also gain exposure to real-world STEM challenges.

SMAC is excited to feature workshops with major global industry leaders, including Google and Microsoft. Key areas of interest covered include Aerospace Engineering, Animation & Media Design, Artificial Intelligence, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Earth Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science Innovation, Neuroscience, Pathology, Robotics & Automation, Coding, Software Development, Physics, Environmental & Architectural Design, 3D Design.

There will be a standard application fee when applying for the online 2024/2025 session. The one-time application fee of $59 will cover the full eight (8) months of programming and program incidentals. An administrative/user fee of $49.99/month will also be required. All STEM programming on weekends and weekdays are unlimited and provided at no extra cost. Students may choose between all STEM clubs, courses, and special programming FREE OF CHARGE. Downloadable personal A3 Microsoft license and Data Science License cost is included in the fees.
